The Aldrich-Thomas
Group was the recipient of a Texas Family Business of
the Year Award on November 2, 2006 at Baylor University.
Baylor’s Institute for Family Business sponsors
the program, which is part of the Center for Entrepreneurship
at Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business. These awards
are presented annually to outstanding family owned businesses
that demonstrate community commitment, family values and
successful business management.
To be nominated,
a firm must be headquartered in Texas and have one or
more of the following characteristics:
(1) Has been owned
and operated by different generations of a family;
(2) The potential exists for ownership to be passed on
to younger generations;
(3) More than one member of the family has active employment
in an organization owned by a family; and
(4) A family holding company which is presently operating
the business.
Winners for the
awards were chosen from three general categories –
large (more that 151 employees), medium (51 to 150 employees),
and small (50 or fewer employees). Outstanding firms were
also honored in the special categories of “Founders
Award”, “Heritage Award”, “Family
Values Award”, “Community Commitment Award”,
“Fastest-Growing Family Business Award”, and
“Well-Managed Family Business Award”.
The Aldrich-Thomas
Group received the “Founders Award”, which
is given to the successful family business that has grown
and adapted to present and future markets, while maintaining
the identity and original concept of its founder.
